What is The Truth??

I receive inquiries concerning hypnosis trainings and the different methods for hypnotic therapeutic interventions in many areas. Here are the TRUTHS as I have discovered.
  1. Hypnotists
As listed in the U.S. Dept of Labor-List of Occupational Titles, HYPNOSIS(HYPNOTHERAPY)is a non-medical training to induce a trance in others and to assist in behavior modification and teach self hypnosis methods. Majority of training is for Smoking Cessation; Weight Loss; behavior modification, pain management; fear/phobia removal and Stress Reduction.
  2. Professionals with Specialized Training
They are recognized by letters after their names. These trained individuals have received more than just basic training. They have received advanced training in particular areas and are more qualified in these areas of expertise.
  3. Psycho-therapist.
There is no license or certification for psycho-therapy. There is no recognized training or certification as a psychotherapist. There are some using this title that have specialized training in the mental health care field. Others may decided to use it only for professional reasons.
  4. Hypnotherapist
Has received specialized and in some cases advanced training in the latest methods of hypnotherapy. Also uses letters after their name to indentify their status of training.
  5. Stop Smoking Programs on line.
The documented results of on line hypnosis is less than 30% success. Live one on one sessions have the best success ratings. Usually between 70%-98%.
  6. Group Stop Smoking Programs
Have the same or slightly higher success(30% - 40%) as on line programs.
  7. Pre-recorded Stop Smoking Programs
Have the same failure rate as on line programs.
  8. Weight loss programs using Hypnosis.
Most programs of less than 4 sessions have less than a 50% success rate out of all hypnotic programs. If you can't commit to 4 sessions then Weight Watchers is better.
  9. Hypnotists without proper credentials.Beware of hypnotists that advertise "treatment" for marital issues;drug addictions; alcoholism. Unless they are licensed and/or certified as to having received training in these areas beware. Use only specialists in these areas.
  10. Hypnosis for Seduction
These programs do not work and are being overly abused by scam artists. No evidence to support these claims.
  11. Hypnosis cannot enlarge the penis. Any other claim along with other phony testimonials are being offered by Internet scam artists who have no understanding or training in hypnotherapy. There is no scientific or clinical evidence to support these claims. If there is, please report them to me.
  12. Hypnosis for Breast Enlargement.
there is medical; clinical evidence to support this claim, dating from the 1970's at N. Texas University.
  13. Hypnosis is not a "truth serum.
When hypnotized, the subject cannot be made to tell the truth. When hypnotized, the subject can lie.
  14. Hypnosis cannot help men seduce women.
The sites that sell courses on how to do this are merely catering to the "male chauvinist' - 'couch potato'- 'beer drinking' - 'ugly'-'shy'-'introverted'-'female bashing'- 'abusive bad boy types'. Don't let them "seduce you" out of your money.
  15. Passing a Lie Detector
Hypnosis cannot help you pass an employment test.
  16. What the letters mean after a hypnotist's name.
    The letters after the name CHT = certified hypnotherapist; RCHt = Registered and Certified Hypnotherapist; DCH = Doctor of Clinical Hypnosis;

  17. NEVER PAY A HYPNOTIST UP FRONT.
If you go to any hypnotist for any reason you should never have to pay up front... never pay before your appointment.
  18. NEVER PAY FOR HYPNOSIS THAT UTILIZES SPINNING DISKS; HEADSET AND/OR FLASHING LIGHTS - 1ST SESSION ONLY.
When you use a hypnotist, you should expect a high degree of professionalism and personal attention. Any hypnotist who uses this "hi-tech approach," such as SPINNING HYPNO-DISKS, head phones, and/or flashing glasses, for the induction is doing you, the paying client, a disservice. The very first session at least, should be conducted LIVE from start to finish. Anything less than this most personal approach is merely showing you how little the hypnotist has learned about his/her craft. When you call for information, ask questions about how the first session will be conducted. However, headsets can be effective over long term follow-ups in some cases; just never accept this procedure in your 1st session. If you haven't achieved many of your expectations within 3 - 8 visits over a 90-120 day period, why continue with that program?
  19. There are many misconceptions about hypnosis. Hypnosis cannot make or force a change in that persons behavior. Hypnosis can motivate them to make the necessary changes to produce a more positive outcome.
Behaviors, when they begin must always have a positive purpose or they must have the possiblity to produce a positive outcome. people never begin to do anything expecting a negative or painful outcome.
So using this premise, it's important to ask "What's your purpose in saying or doing this now?" NEVER ASK someone "WHY" they do something because you become their accuser and this places that person in a defense position and now they must defend that position -even if it means "lying."
Beware of the persons "Need to be right." You're either right or in love.
